Monastic Wisdom, #1

I thought I’d start a series (of sorts, at random intervals) of treasures from early Christians who were desert monastics and some of the greats of early monastic traditions. Enjoy!

“We must follow in the footsteps of our predecessors
in the faith….
directing the ordering of our life
according to the example of good people.”

— The Venerable Bede

Picture: I took this during my trip to England in 2007. It is the stone threshold of a side chapel in King’s Chapel, Cambridge, worn by the feet of untold numbers of pilgrims who have come there to worship during the last thousand years.
